CFTS CHIEF INSTRUCTOR
Our Chief Instructor is Renshi Andy Kidby, 7th Dan.
Renshi Kidby began training in 1972 and achieved Shodan in 1979. He started teaching in 1980 and opened the Newport Pagnell club in 1983. After many years of training with TASK under John van Weenen, he split away with Sensei's Coppen and Calver and formed CFTS. He was awarded 7th Dan in 2012 and continues to run multiple clubs in the Milton Keynes & Bedford area plus after school clubs.
CFTS is run by an executive committee of three. They are three of the highest graded karate-ka within CFTS including our chief instructor. Their purpose is to liaise with professional, sporting and governing bodies to ensure best practice and that CFTS complies with the latest legislation. They also negotiate insurance, ensure that costs are covered and basically administer all matters relating to the smooth running of the federation.
Currently these are;
- Chairman - Shihan Eddie McClagish
- Treasurer/Child Protection Officer - Renshi Andy Kidby
- Secretary - Sensei James Saunders
- Executive Member - Shihan Liam O'Reilly
CFTS TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
CFTS also has a Technical Committee of eleven which includes the three executive. To serve on this committee it is necessary to be a minimum of Nidan (2nd level black belt) and it is by invitation of the remainder of the committee. Its purpose is to set a grading syllabus and review it occasionally should it feel it necessary. They are also responsible for arranging and controlling the annual competition day, to set competition categories, and to suggest content for visiting instructors. They also discuss points raised at the black belt annual general meeting and take forward requests and recommendations from that meeting implementing them should they deem it necessary.
The clubs are run by experienced, qualified, insured instructors of Nidan (2nd level black belt) and above. They organise their own club’s training times and lesson plans, implement recommendations from the two committees above, and arrange any social events and beginners courses. They are supported by a Child Welfare Officer and usually by a Club Secretary.
