The wrist lock flow is a training drill designed to allow the defender to use many different permutations of wrist lock in one sequence and see the effect on an attacker. Attacks are both jodan and chudan.

The wrist lock flow defence sequence contains the following eight combinations;

  • Jodan juji-uke #1 & wrist lock #1
  • Jodan juji-uke #2 & wrist lock #2
  • Jodan juji-uke #3 & wrist lock #3
  • Jodan juji-uke #4 & wrist lock #4
  • Chudan kaki-shuto (part 1), teisho strike, empi & wrist lock #5
  • Chudan kaki-shuto (part 2), empi & wrist lock #6
  • Under-arm wrist lock (the bouncer's friend) #7
  • Swan neck #8

Rotate attackers hand 180 degrees

Take attackers hand in right hand

Spin round ushiro mawashi empi

Spin back around

Wrist lock #6
      Grab attackers thumb and rotate hand Wrist lock #7
      Unwind attackers arm into swan neck Wrist lock #8
