On Saturday 30th November, CFTS had its first Competition Day since 2018! It was a fantastic event, really well-supported, with karateka from every club in attendance. The focus of the competition was Kata, with several age categories, and everyone who took part deserves praise; it isn't easy to stand in front of five judges and perform, but everyone who stepped on to the mat performed their kata with outward confidence and good spirit. Well done!
The focus may have been kata, but we still found time to fit some kumite in, with exhibition sparring matches taking place towards the end - check the videos below for the full matches! There were also two performances of higher-grade kata - again, full videos are below.
Although a big thanks must go to the organisers of the Competition Day, they would undoubtedly say that without people to take part, there would be no competition. Thank you and well done to everyone who competed, who supported those competing, and who enabled the day to take place. Most importantly, if you enjoyed the day, let your Senseis know! Help make future competitions happen, and to be a success!
There can, of course, be only one set of winners, and this first gallery of images showcases the people who allowed their true karate spirit to shine through into their kata. Congratulations!
Many congratulations to you all! Wear your medals and display your trophies with pride!
As a quick note before the rest of the galleries: If you're in a photo here and would rather it were not visible, please don't hesitate to let us know!
Here are the photos of the first group on the day: the Under 11s!

Then the Adults finally got a turn with their individual kata:
