Venue: Lord Grey School, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, Bucks
The second open course given by the CFTS Instructors happened on Saturday 27th April at Lord Grey School. It was well attended with over 110 Kyu grades and Dan grades joining in the day.
Again, like last year, the students were divided into three grade groups;
White belts to Orange belts
Yellow belts to Purple & White belts
All Brown belts and Dan grades
There were three areas of training, each grade group being taught skills appropriate to their level.
In Area 1, Sensei Jan Wilson took the students through various kata and introduced them to Tai Chi.
In Area 2, Sensei Simon McMahon and Sensei Pam McMahon took the students through various forms of kumite, incorporating blocks, strikes, sweeps and takedowns.
In Area 3, Sensei Dan Young and Sensei Steve Young introduced the students to a new weapon, the Tonfa, demonstrating its use for blocks, strikes, kata and defence against a bo staff.
All in all, the students had a great day and the feedback was positive.
The next CFTS event will be the Kata Competition on November 30th, so please keep the day free!
