Competition Day 2015

The CFTS Competition Day on Saturday 18th April 2015 was a great success.

The day started with the under 10's kata category and the standards were high. Following on from that was the 11-15's kata category. Kumite followed, with the Under 10's having two competitions, so if they went out in the A group first round, they got to fight again in the B group, which kept their interest up.

Other categories were the over 16 men's kumite, over 16 ladies kumite, dan grade kata, cadet dan grades kumite, over 17 dan grade kumite, female dan grade kumite and bo kata where high standards were displayed and sportsmanship alike, which resulted in fewer injuries.

The Team Challenge between Bedford and Milton Keynes was different this year. Instead of the 18 minute bout with rolling substitutions, it was back to the traditional one-on-one with five karate-ka on each team. Bedford fielded a strong team, like most years, but after five fights it was a draw, which meant two had to fight again to decide it. The result finally went to Milton Keynes.

It was a great day for CFTS and hopefully the spectators who supported throughout the day enjoyed it too.
