The June Kyu gradings were well attended and the standard was good, although in some cases more work was needed and a lot of comments were handed out to students.
To be continually successful, students MUST train at home as well as in the Dojo and it was evident that this is not happening. Parents and guardians need to encourage their children (of all ages) to supplement their Dojo training. All of the katas are available on YouTube; simply enter "Kanazawa Heian Godan" (for example) and you can see Kanazawa Sensei performing the kata. Buy the blue syllabus book (available at all gradings and from your own instructor) or the Sahota Sensei Beginner to Black Belt book (currently £7 from your instructor) which details all the kata.
Work hard in the Dojo and work hard at home and you will progress further and enjoy your karate more.
AREA TROPHY WINNERS
The area trophies were awarded to a member of each club. Trophies are awarded for many different reasons, attendance, punctuality, etiquette, dedication, attitude, and perseverance to name but a few. Maybe you helped a fellow karateka, helped inside or outside the dojo, have overcome a difficult situation; there are many reasons. If you did not win the trophy this time, congratulate the person that did and continue in your efforts to be a good karate student.
