Shihan Holmes Weapons Defence Course - November 2014

Saturday 15th November 2014 brought over 80 karate-ka and their families to the Bunyan Centre in Bedford for the annual course with Shihan Holmes. The course was split into two sections, the first focussing on blunt weapon defence and the second, edged weapons defence. Shihan Holmes' familiar laid-back teaching style was ever present but the fluid power which which he demonstrated was as awesome as ever.

Moving away from the rigidity of the Shotokan way into the fluidity of the ju-jitsu style was sometimes strange to get to grips with but everyone came away with a good feeling of how useful it was - for many it was the first time for blocking, trapping and striking in a different way to our normal style.

The course was a non-gi event, open to students, families & friends alike and everyone benefited from the days training.

Thanks again to Shihan Holmes for a great afternoon's training and we look forward to the next one!
